Black Lives Matter: A Statement From Livewire1350
By Morgan Burdick
As a station, we stand by the #blacklivesmatter movement and want to do everything we can to amplify Black voices in our community. Our station would not be where it is today without Black culture, especially music, which has contributed to many of our playlists, gig reviews, and more. We want to give back to a community that has helped us shape the sound of UEA.
Therefore, for the month of June, we will be providing free membership to our station. If you'd like to get involved, email firstname.lastname@example.org . We encourage those joining us to donate what they would have spent to some charities we have listed below, or sign petitions that we have also provided the links for. In the coming weeks, we will use our voice as a station to provide resources for education, activism, and mental health in the Black community. We will use our platform to shed light on Black artists, creators, and business owners.
As a community, we must do better to actively oppose racism. We urge other UEA societies and student stations across the UK to do the same.
