As always, our New Music Playlist slaps.
Daisy Maybe - Cinnamon
After her collab with Skepta late last year, this up-and-coming R&B artist hits back with new track ‘Cinnamon’. Released as a double A-Side with ‘Stop’, ‘Cinnamon’ is the singer’s best track to date--psychedelic pop with soulful, rhythmic basslines, it’s got it all.
Drugdealer - Fools
Warm jazzy number from drugdealer (Michael Collins) from his upcoming album Raw Honey. The song’s warmth conjures images of flower-filled meadows and hazy sunsets, straight from the band’s home of LA.
Imagination - One In A Million ft. Errol Kennedy
UK soul trio from the 80s coming back with maybe the most bizarre track ever heard on Livewire--this song follows a strange but catchy electronic instrumental base, with obscure spoken lyrics. This is song to talk about.
Jafaris - Time
Energetic pop-rap track ‘Time’ by Irish rapper Jafaris sees the artist swapping Dublin for the heady sun of LA. The song has such good energy, it’s sincerely infectious and there is nothing superfluous about it. This song is such a good time.
Jasmine Thompson - Loyal
Low-key soulful pop track ‘Loyal’ by London’s Jasmine Thompson is the perfect introspective song. When paired with its minimalistic yet effective video, the song is a force to be reckoned with.
Jimothy - Getting Burberry Socks
One of Livewire’s 2019 Ones to Watch Jimothy returns with ‘Getting Burberry Socks’--this song is fun, personable, and has the same sense of individuality that all of Jimothy’s previous tracks have. It’s a party.
Sistertalk - Vitriol
This is such an interesting song--it’s layered with jazz, grunge, and garage rock, all in one episodic and dynamic track. It’s the band’s first ever single, and if this is anything to go by, Sistertalk may be one of the most interesting names in alternative rock. Keep an eye on this North London band.
Slayyyter - Mine
What a floorfiller--slayyyter’s new release ‘Mine’ is one of the most energetic electronic pop tracks to date. Slayyyter has said that the track is “a bouncy lovey-dovey house track about wanting someone really bad”.
The Murder Capital - Feeling Fades
Irish rock band The Murder Capital debut with ‘Feeling Fades’, their first proper single after years of buzzy live shows. The band support IDLES on their London Electric Ballroom gig in April.
Tommy Genesis - I’m Yours
Dazed called her “the internet’s most rebellious underground rap queen”, and that’s not short of the truth. New track ‘I’m Yours’ shows exactly why Tommy Genesis is different--it’s a lovey dovey cutesy song released just in time for V-Day, but with a bite.
